Pomegranate

yep, you got that right. pomegranate. so what do you think it is? here's what it looks like:

looks can be deceiving. so if you guessed that it's a type of onion. heck, you're wrong! that's what i thought it was the first time my dad squealed, "POMEGRANATE!" and pointed to that thingy that does in fact look like an eye-watering onion. let's have a look inside it, shall we?

see...i told you it wasn't an onion!

it is a type of fruit. don't believe me? go google POMEGRANATE and see for yourself. when i asked my mom how it was she said "Ok, but there's plenty of seeds. Some i can't bite." when she said that i was like, "Errr...but i ate everything." and so did my dad. *shrugs*

so as you can see, it sorta looks like a pamelo but a different colour and with seeds in each of the lil' er i have no idea what you call it. i was eating it over the sink and kept dropping some of it into the sink just as my dad had cleared up the sink which was filled with what i had dropped. hey, i'm not a waster, when you eat that, everything just falls around. but he did say, "OI! The quarter of the pomegranate you're holding costs MYR1 ok. the WHOLE thing cost me 4 bucks!" ooooook... if that's the case, i'd rather eat papaya thanks. that's what i've been having almost every night since i got back. oh and bananas too, since my dad is such a monkey.

i finally bought The Sims 2. don't laugh, i know i'm a bit behind time in games and all. what i didn't know bout it was that, it required 2.8GB of hard disk space. YIKES! but it's nice to play, so far.

news about my laptop. apparently something's wrong with the motherboard or something. could cost 2,000 bucks to fix it. that's nuts, might as well get a new one, according to my dad. but my laptop is not even 2 years old yet! UGH...

on a lighter note, CASEY WON AUSTRALIAN IDOL 2! i'm so happy that she won instead of Anthony. she deserves it more than he does. plus, i voted for her. kekeke...

christmas is coming soon which means advent is drawing near. time to play all those carols. and try to be a nice *ahem* i mean, nicER person? no no no, it's not because of santa...

I'm back

yep, i'm now back in the comfort of my home. flight back was fine, except that it was delayed by half an hour. my gosh, you wouldn't believe how long the line was to check. could be because now the plane is much bigger than the usual one and it was quite a full flight. as for the movies, there was Little Black Book, I Robot, The Terminal (which i bloody didn't know that they were showing! #@!$#%), King Arthur and a few others i can't remember. only watched Little Black Book. it was kinda boring if you ask me. so why didn't i watch The Terminal? no, it wasn't because it was too late when i found out but because i was dozing off to sleep every now and then and the guy in front of me had to put his chair all the way back thus the screen was just inches from my eyes. oh and if anyone's interested, i had veal on the plane.

first thing mom said: Why you took so long to come out?!?!
first thing dad said: nothing. he too busy showing off his new camera to me BY filming a short movie of me and my mom hugging. but after that he did say, "Come here!"

well at least my mom didn't mention anything bout my shirt shrinking or anything...although, she did mention that all my shirts seem quite short as i was unpacking. not my fault, i blame the dryer.

so the next day, all of us headed to One Utama. it was a public holiday since it was Raya and gosh, i saw so many people there! people that i know. mainly from church. had lunch at this chinese shop which i can't remember the name, i just know that it used to be Beijing Wok. all i know is that they serve huge glasses of drinks. good food and fast service.

oooo and i had my first roti canai since i got back! well, roti telur to be exact. when i woke up in the morning, my dad was like giving this look that he wanted to eat roti canai for breakfast, so we did. mom went for some line dancing class.

sigh, it's quite hot here. hasn't been raining for the past 2 days. yes amy...it's so hard to satisfy me.

now i'm talking crap to amy. she just told me to "Jiak Sai" which means "EAT SHIT". that wasn't very nice of her was it? well that's amy for you.

as you can prob tell, i have nothing much to write about. this is just to let people know tht i'm alive. because miss ong hui yin has been saying this one too many times, "Michelle Tan. Are you alive???" on her blog and on her sms. so there. and for those people who have been asking me to blog. here you go...happy?

"When goodbye is too hard to say, stay."

It's O-V-E-R

what's over? my exams! finally done with it. this time has by far been my longest period of uni exams. phew, just sort of relieved it's over. but ironically, i don't feel REALLY happy that i'm done. not feeling estatic or overjoyed or anything. just...normal. maybe it's cos results would be out in 3 weeks time.
the past few days has been tiring but fun. last paper was on thursday and had to come back home in the rain after the exam which ended at like 5.45pm. did nothing for the night, just watched tv with amy chilling in my room.
on friday, amy, syl and i watched The Forgotten. there wasn't many people watching and thank goodness you didn't watch hui yin! i was sitting in between both of them munching away on my popcorn when suddenly amy reached over and grabbed my hand, in fear and terror. so for the most of the movie both of us were huddled together, screaming whenever something unexpected happened while syl was just sitting there, hiding behind her jacket. so whenever i hear amy screamed so did i. well part was because it was a teeny weeny bit scary and also you know how you sorta jump out of your seat when it's quiet and someone next to you just screams out loud? hope no one heard us.
at night i had to "pretend" to be a patient who's 31 years old and had some drug history thingy wingy to help amy to study for her practical medical exam. i'm not that good at role playing, but better when i'm being knocked here and there by some tendon hammer or having amy try to blow my arm off when she's taking my blood pressure.
yesterday all three of us (yes it's always the 3 of us these days since the rest have gone home) headed to the city. the plan was to go to Smith St., where they have loads of factory outlets. we ended up walking around for nearly 6 hours i think? so you can just imagine how tired we were yesterday. we usually take a tram from the city to Smith St from the same place but yesterday, the road was closed temporarily. we saw this crowd of people down the road with green balloons. if you listened close enough, you could actually hear someone singing. so we headed down to see what the big hoo hah it's about. as we got closer, i actually recognised the voice and told the girls, "Hey i think it's Cosima." i walked quickly there (excited mar...) and yep, i was right. there she was singing live for the public in front of Myer (departmental store) and it was then did i wanted to smack myself for not bringing my camera along. it's not that i'm a fan of hers, but she's alright. oh btw, Cosima came in 3rd in Australian Idol last year. and oh my goodness hui yin, she sang "When the war is over" without any music and when she "screamed" we felt as if the speakers were gonna blow up! it was seriously incredibly loud.
the past few times when i headed to the city, it always rained. and yesterday was no different. as we were walking along Smith, it was raining quite heavily and i excitedly exclaimed to amy, "It's hailing!" so she stuck her hand out to catch the tiny balls of ice that were falling from the sky. and this time i nearly smacked my forehead for forgetting to bring my camera along! my dad has been wanting to see a picture when it's hailing (i took once before, but couldn't really see much). and yesterday was just perfect to show my dad how it's like when it hails. it's like God is shaking salt crystals all over the earth. it was just magnificent.
i packed my luggage last night. my brother was like, "Eh? aren't you only going off on monday?" is there a rule that says that i can only pack my luggage the night before? well the reason why i packed last night was cos tonight, they're showing Panic Room on tv! and i wanna watch. so there. that's my reason. and how heavy is my luggage? 24-25 kgs. pretty heavy. i'm so gonna get it from my dad cos he's the one who carries it into the car. hehehe but i can blame it on the chocs he asked me to get.
ok, i think that was a pretty long entry. i'm just sorta bored right now here in the library. there's nothing else to do. nothing on tv. nothing more to do. i cleaned my room, well sort of is good enough.
alright, i am sort of dreading the flight back since ahem, i just hate flying. so to those who haven't finished their exams, ALL THE BEST. i'll try not to rub it in that i'm going home soon and you're still stuck here doing exams. hehehe i'm so mean. but just tahan a little longer and you'll be home. enjoy your holidays! and for those not on holidays, erm...take care!

p/s: WAHH!!! i miss my laptop!!! BOO HOO HOO...my songs!

The Bank

was waiting in the bank on monday while my friend did her whatnot at the counter. the lines were long, which was a bit unsual. i noticed that the 2 ATM's for that bank outside were not in service and neither was the ATM in the bank in serivice either. so ALL 3, were out of order. hence, the long line of people queueing up just to withdraw some money.

now, if you just sit and look around for just a few minutes, you will notice that:

  1. every 10-15 seconds, a person walks in to use the ATM.
  2. every say maybe, 1 in 4 people would walk to the ATM and try to insert their card in. they didn't even look at the screen before hand. so some were quite puzzled, wondering why the machine wouldn't accept their card. they look at their cards thinking that what's wrong. then after a few seconds later they would look at the screen to see "Terminal Out of Service" flashed across the screen. this would be followed by the "I-can't-believe-it's-not-working. I-was-wasting-my-time-trying-to-use-an-out-of-order-ATM" look.

so that was how i kept myself entertained.

it has been raining for the past 2 days. it rained non-stop yesterday, causing the walkway near my room to be flooded. my poor neighbour, well don't even know if he's around to see the puddle collecting at his door. sigh, the power of my singing.
