I absolutely HATE/LOATHE/DESPISE (use whatever hate equivalent word here) parking ticket machines! UGH! Somehow...it...manages...to...piss...me...off! Don't ask...
Have you ever noticed how escalators for you to walk on are usually on the left side instead of the right? Well, was at my aunt's place last night after her bday dinner and her friend told us how she always manages to try to use the one that is actually meant for the opposite direction.
Get my drift? No? Alright then, imagine this...
You want to go up to the next floor. Some escalators are side-by-side (for both directions) and usually the one on the left is the one that you should use. But for some reason, a few places like The Curve, has the escalators on the right side. While other at the same place too, are on the left side. I mean, COME ON! Standardisation man! (Not sure if I spelled that correctly.) Save some of us the embarassment of attempting to go up an escalator that is meant for people to go down. It's just automatic. I mean, we drive on the left side, most of us walk on the left side...
As you can tell, I have nothing else to complain about. So if you don't get what I'm trying to say, sorry...I'm not that good at explaining stuff.
Nywho, it's hot and I want to go shower and I think I ate too much today. BAH.

Is it just me or has the weather been crazy lately?
What happened to the rain?
Why is it so bloody hot everyday?!
As you can probably tell, I have no idea what to blog about.
Think Korean dramas and those Telenovelas are getting pretty popular lately. I've been a couch potato lately, watching what some would call "The Idiot Box". Can't help it if I have nothing else better to do.
These dramas are all just full of back-stabbing, lies and deceit. Ooo...such drama! Can be a bit confusing at times since there are a lot of characters.
Want to know something funny? Heh well it is funny to my dad.
My mom used to ask me to increase the volume esp when the telenovelas are on.
"Why? Can you understand what they say?"
"No...but it's nice to hear them speak!"
Heh, can pick up some Spanish at the same time too. But not Korean since they dubbed them in Mandarin.
So here's some of the shows I've been following so far:
La Hija de Jardinero (The Garderner's Daughter)
Mi Gorda Bella (My Beautiful Fat Person)
Jewel in the Palace aka Dae Jang-geum
Glass Shoes
Most of the telenovelas are actually over 100 episodes. Long winded bunch of people. Prob also due to the fact that there are so many characters.
That's all folks! Told you I have no idea what to write, so maybe it's better not to write at all?

*Wail Wail*
I was minding my own business, helping to clear the table after lunch(yea, i'm a good girl you see...:P) when my dad said there was a letter for me.
Exciting! Me?! Getting a letter.
Then he wailed. He actually WAILED.
Cos it was a letter from my university.
Oh well, no need to guess what was in there.
It was an invoice for my semester fees. (What did you think it was? o_O)
He was WAILING cos they really did INCREASE the fees that were already too high.
Thanks a lot Monash, for sucking extra money from all of us.
BAH.

Power failure?
January 13, 2005 13:46 PM
Power Failure In Most Parts Of Klang Valley
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Several parts of the Klang Valley, including Putrajaya, were affected by a power failure which occurred at about 12.30 pm today, eye-witnesses said.
They added that areas like Damansara, Bangsar, Hulu Klang, Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam were also hit by the blackout.
Several people had also informed Bernama to say that parts of Melaka, Pahang and Johor were also affected.
However, pockets of the Klang Valley like Kg Baru and Wangsa Maju were not affected.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd has yet to issue a statement.
-- BERNAMA
Blackout you say?
No. Not for me. Heh. Not trying to imply anything but my house is not affected by the power failure.
Felicia said: "You have your own generator is it?!"
Brother said: "I'm in the Mines. HOT!"
Mom's friend said: "Eh. No electricity." (while on the phone with my mom. she stays in the same housing area.)
I stay in Damansara, more specifically, Bandar Utama, but everything's fine and dandy for me.
I turned on the tv. TV1 and TV2 is not broadcasting anything. Not like I watch those channels anyway.
It's pretty, well EXTREMELY hot today so my heart goes out to all those affected by the power failure.
But I guess, when you guys read this, you should be relaxing in an air-conditioned room or something.
Dad's afraid that the TNB share will drop. Hmmm...

Penang - Dec 2004
Was supposed to blog bout my Penang trip a while ago but just never got down to it. So here it is.
26th December 2004
Left KL after lunch since we were busy packing up and all. Was on the highway for over an hour when my handphone rang while i was dozing off. It was Felicia.
"Hey, are u in Penang yet?"
"No. Still on the highway."
"Penang is a DISASTER zone! There were tidal waves! Don't go to the coastal roads!"
(ok fine, I really can't remember EXACTLY what she said. but it was along those lines.)
huh? I was a bit blur so when i hung up and told my parents my dad was like:
"Huh?! TIDAL WAVES?! PENANG?! Where was the earthquake?"
So we didn't really put much thought into it. Until... my brother called us a couple of hours later when we were about an hour's drive away from Penang.
"Eh. Penang got hit my tsunami. Where are u?"
(he didn't get to go with us cos he's working, in case you were wondering.)
So all three of us were scratching our heads. Reached the Penang bridge later and as usual, there was a big traffic jam. Just too many cars. Turned on the radio just in time to hear bout the earthquake which caused the tidal waves or tsunami.
Thank goodness none of my relatives were affected since most of them are not staying at the affected areas. Only the north and west parts of Penang were hit by the tidal waves. Luckily the Penang bridge is on the east side.
Also, luckily we decided to stay at my cousin's apartment which is far away from the affected areas.
My cousin was lying in bed in the morning and felt the earth moved. She quickly got up and went and sat down in the living room. Think she got a bit frightened, unaware of what actually happened.
By the way, my aunt was oblivious as to what was happening. Even with her having Astro (cable tv). 0_O
27th December 2004
Didn't manage to really sleep last night. Was drifting off to sleep when I heard...
"Para bailar la bamba,Para bailar la bamba,Se necesito una poca de gracia..."
YES. SOMEONE WAS SINGING AWFULLY LOUD AND JUST, AWFULLY.
There's actually this open hawker centre where they think it's nice and fun to torture people until the wee hours of the morning with their horrible singing.
My dad actually woke up at 7 in the morning. Cos the room where he was sleeping gets the morning sun and since the apartment has no curtains (don't ask me why) he HAD to wake up early. and took this picture. And yes, I made him sleep on his own cos I was a bit scared to sleep on my own. Heh
Sunrise, sunrise, looks like morning in your eyes...
Mom wanted to go to Gurney Plaza which is located well, near Gurney Drive. But changed her mind after deciding that we should not go near that area. So guess where we went on the first day we were in Penang? TESCO. YEP. The hypermarket near my grandma's house. It was quite funny actually cos my mom was worried
"Eh, don't park in the basement if they have one."
"Why you wanna park so close to this side. The sea is just over there! Park further away!"
Hahaha she's funny sometimes. But not as funny as how she refered tsunami as tsuMAni twice. Even her sister said that.
The whole reason of us heading to Penang was to celebrate my popo's bday. Ate at this restaurant called "One One Eight". In cantonese it means "prosperous everyday" or something like that. The food was not bad and so was the cake.
Mom wanted to go back tomorrow but somehow, all her sisters managed to change her mind.
28th December 2004
Will the torturous singing ever stop?! I heard "Last night i dreamt of some blah blah blah..."(Some madonna song)
WELL. If only I had a chance to DREAM at all.
Spent the afternoon in my popo's house. Cos no one else was around and she wasn't feeling well.
Then dad drove us to town and we ate err...dinner? at 5 something.
ladies and gentlemen, at the top we have ROJAK BUAH, followed by MAMAK MEE GORENG on the bottom left and ICE KACANG.
apom jagung (corn) and banana apom was tea
Then later at night we had dinner. HAH! we were such pigs! ate too much!
Dad managed to take this picture and lots more from the balcony of the apartment.
my dad really took that picture! no kidding!!! ^0^
We were near the airport and he wanted to take a pic of the plane taking off but everytime it does take off, he's not ready. hahaha
29th December 2004
Left for KL after lunch at TESCO (yes, again). Well PENANG was incredibly hot that my dad insisted we went somewhere cool for lunch.
So that was my trip. While we were there, everytime we ate at a shop, people everywhere were talking bout the tsunami. Sigh, lots of rumours were spread around. You are entitled to believe it or not.
Mainly just wanted to show you guys some pictures.

Scuse me...
After having this expensive but satisfying dinner at One Utama at this place called Basque Lane, mom, dad and I headed to the washroom.
There was this young chinese guy who was looking at the floor as he walked into the washroom.
I stood there waiting for my mom to enter through the other door.
She just stood there.
And asked, "Why is he going to the ladies?"
I looked at her in disbelief and glanced at the washroom.
The guy all of a sudden realises that he had entered the ladies, and quickly scurried away(still looking down on the ground. maybe he was admiring the shine on the floor tiles.) to the gents.
Could have sworn that he looked a bit paiseh and went a bit red.
Poor guy. Cos all three of us were laughing after that.
Oh well, we make mistakes.
But thank goodness I didn't step into the gents, for then there would be another thing to add to my list of embarassing moments.

Pasar Malam
it's been yonkers since i went to a pasar malam (night market) but i finally went yesterday evening. the ss2 one is way better than the Taman Tun one if i remember correctly. anyway, bought some siu mai, fish balls, sea coconut to cook and fried ice cream! can you believe that it's actually my first time eating one though i've seen it many times? oh and we bought the usual jelly. i have no idea what it's called, it's this yellowish jelly (which has no taste) that comes with some lemony syrup. well, usually it's yummylicious IF the syrup is not too sour. unfortunately that's how the syrup was. mom has vowed never to buy from that liar man. but i mean come on, if you ask the seller if it's sweet, won't he just agree with you?
gosh, i know it's raining now but is it that cold that my brother has to go to the toilet 2 times withing 10 minutes?! ok, got side tracked... now let's go back.
i just downloaded this song by Dick Brave and The Backbeats with their rendition of Complicated by Avril Lavigne. must say they did a pretty good job with it, giving it a funky edge. just think of Rock and Roll. the version where you can sorta swing dance to it and snap your fingers to. not your cup of tea? oh well, i like it. ^o^
another favourite for me this week is Talk to me by Keri Noble. just love the piano playing. love the lyrics. love the melody. oh heck, i just love it!
one more recommendation. Sarah McLachlan's World on Fire. you can count on her for meaningful lyrics. just, wow.
ok, i'm suppose to blog bout my penang trip. got pictures to show but probably not now. there's thunder and lightning. better go if i don't want my comp to get zapped.

Happy New Year
Well folks, in a blink of an eye, another year has passed us by. A year filled with laughter, tears, tragedies, happiness and so on.
I just want wish everyone a Happy New Year. Usher in 2005 with hope and with your head high. Take some time now and then to just reflect and realise that we should be thankful for all the Lord has given us.
Happy New Year
No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It's the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now's the time for us to say...
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I
Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a foo
lAnd he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway...
Here's wishing you a blessed New Year ahead of you all and ALL THE BEST in everything.
